SERENITY
Hidden in the Quiet
A hint of white caught my eye in a secluded Florida cove. Through one narrow opening in the vegetation and a long lens, this close-knit group of American White Pelicans quietly came into view.
Moments like this remind me to slow down. Nature doesn't rush, and some of its best surprises rarely announce themselves.
SUN-KISSED SLUMBER — Nestled among autumn grasses and dried wildflowers, this Red Fox basked in the Tetons’ morning light. Eyes closed and russet fur glowing, it seemed perfectly content to let the world carry on without it. A quiet moment I was grateful to witness.
A QUIET VISITOR - This Northwestern Fritillary seemed content to linger over its meal among the delicate purple blooms. I was grateful for the chance to admire those intricate wings, one quiet detail at a time.
GROOMING PRACTICE - A quiet grooming session, or advanced yoga practice? This young Olive Baboon paused its foot inspection to look our way, as if to say, “Go ahead—try this at home.”
PRECIOUS CARGO - Already carrying an impressive load of orange pollen, this little Bumble Bee seemed to pause between the golden blooms. So much busy purpose in such a small, fuzzy package.
HIDDEN ON THE MARSH - A dark-morph Reddish Egret tucked into layers of marsh grass, its beautiful colors almost blending into the surroundings—until that fiery eye gives it away. A quieter moment with one of my favorite characters of the wetlands.
QUIETLY STUNNING - All that color and detail, yet not a hint of arrogance. This male Wood Duck glided across the water, quietly stunning and perfectly at ease.
